[Day 322] Beauty is Perfecting Imperfection

I was on my way to work and I kept singing John Legend’s All of Me and there is this perfect line which all the heterosexual girls, and gay creatures, would totally love

Love your curves and all your edges/ All your perfect imperfections

Ladies, as well as metro sexual gents flocking the nation, embrace your imperfections. Embrace every zit you have, every wrinkle, your crooked smile, the bridge of your nose, your imperfect body, your skin, your color. Embrace yourself, for you are beautiful no matter how high the standards of society is towards beauty.

For that, fuck society. We always think what the society tells us beautiful should be the trend, when in fact, these standards of beauty are set by those high born individuals who don’t consider that beauty is not always tangible, not often in glitters and gold, and most importantly not dictated by anybody.

“If you look closely at a tree you’ll notice it’s knots and dead branches, just like our bodies. What we learn is that beauty and imperfection go together wonderfully.” – Matthew Fox

Beauty is imperfection. I admire people who don’t get to follow these standards of beauty but instead, take under their sleeves their own set of being beautiful, of embracing their imperfections. That’s how I admire my friends. They are not the condescending posh ones who worry they have a tiny wrinkle near their eye, or they have pimples, or they don’t have “anything to wear”.

We all have imperfections, and these imperfections make us beautiful, unique, and relevant. We just need to realize that.
